Coaching FAQs
You likely have questions about coaching and how I can help.
Scroll down to see answers to the questions I'm asked most often:
What is a coach?
Let me be clear: I'm a coach, not a mental health or medical professional. I'm someone with specialized training and experience who will meet you exactly where you are—honoring your past and all your experiences—and guide you forward in overcoming whatever is holding you back from becoming the person you were created to be.
What is your coaching focus?
I'm trained to help clients understand why they do what they do and how to regain control of their behavior or stop it altogether. For nearly two decades, I've worked with people struggling with addictive behaviors, including dependencies on alcohol, marijuana, heroin, methamphetamine, ketamine, and cocaine, as well as behavioral addictions like compulsive shopping, pornography, and sexual addiction.
Why should I consider your coaching?
Through years of working with various dependencies, I've learned something important: no one sets out to develop an addiction. There are countless reasons why and how it happens—and it's not your fault. We are all capable of becoming dependent on a substance or behavior.
Here's what I know for certain: every addiction is solvable. It does not have to be something you struggle with for the rest of your life. From our very first session, our goal will be to help you find relief, regain control, and walk away from it completely.
What makes your approach different?
The main difference is that I don't focus on the behavior itself. Instead, with compassion and encouragement, I help you explore the "why" behind what you do. Together, we'll examine how your mind and brain work and how substances or behaviors affect them.
We are thinking, feeling, emotional beings. Understanding how these dimensions impact our behavior is the key to gaining control over something that feels uncontrollable.
Do you offer any guarantees?
Yes, absolutely. If you're truly ready for change and want to end the cycles you've been living in, you're exactly where you need to be. I offer a way forward that is refreshing and life-giving. You will feel empowered and equipped to pursue the life you're after, free of the limitations you currently feel.
Here's my commitment to you: If you fully engage in our coaching agreement from start to finish, participate wholeheartedly, and remain honest and open throughout the process, you will walk away transformed with no regrets about our time together. If you don't feel that way, I will refund you completely.
Additionally, if at any point I feel unqualified to continue, I will refer you to another coach better suited to your needs or to a mental health or medical professional who can provide the support you deserve.
Have another question?
Feel free to email any other questions you have. I’ll be glad to answer them or provide any advice or suggestions I may have for you. Or, simply call.
How will coaching help me?
You'll experience relief in several powerful ways:
Internal peace – We'll resolve the internal conflict that keeps you in a back-and-forth struggle between wanting to stop and finding yourself continuing. Your conscious mind will regain control, enabling you to do what you've decided to do.
New patterns of thinking – You'll learn to process situations differently as we dismantle thought patterns and perspectives that no longer serve you.
Clarity and direction – You'll gain clarity about who you are and where you're headed, and begin living into that vision with confidence.
Emotional freedom – You'll gain mastery over your emotions and thoughts. The substance or behavior will no longer control you. Cravings will vanish as your desires change, and you'll be free to choose differently.
Better health – Without the daily presence and impact of your addiction, your physical health and mental clarity will improve dramatically.
