Over the last two decades,

it has been an honor to walk alongside people as they navigate life's most challenging moments. My own journey has been anything but straightforward—I've experienced the highs of athletic achievement and business success, the humbling lessons of failure, the sometimes-beautiful chaos of raising three kids, and the raw vulnerability that comes with facing addiction and mental health struggles myself and within my family.

These experiences haven't just shaped me; they've become the foundation of how I understand resilience, hope, and the incredible capacity we all have for transformation. When you've lived through the depths of difficulty, you develop a deep appreciation for both the fragility and strength of the human spirit.

Coaching found me as much as I found it. What started as a desire to help others became my truest calling—a way to offer the support I wished I'd had during many of my darkest moments. After 37 years of marriage (with thanks to my wife Suzy, who's seen me through it all), I've learned that we're all going to stumble. We’re all going to have moments when we need someone to believe in us when we can't believe in ourselves.

From my small-town Oklahoma roots to the bustling streets of New York City and Nashville, life has shown me that struggle is universal—but so is our capacity for healing and growth. My own relationship with alcohol taught me that recovery isn't just about stopping destructive behaviors; it's about rediscovering who you're meant to be and building a life that genuinely feels worth living.

I don't coach from a place of having it all figured out. I coach from a place of understanding that transformation is possible, that setbacks aren't endings, and that sometimes the most broken places in our lives become the source of our greatest strength. Together, we'll work not just on overcoming what's holding you back, but on creating a future that fills you with excitement and hope.

Through education, motivation, and accountability, I create a supportive environment for lasting positive change that goes far beyond simple behavioral change.

My vision is a world where we all may live free from destructive dependencies, leading balanced and purposeful lives. I’m not out to rid the world of alcohol or any other drug, but to be a resource for those seeking help, in hopes of returning to meaningful, hopeful lives.

Why is Control the Goal?

Understanding the importance of mindfulness can significantly impact various aspects of your life. Here’s a deeper look into the benefits:

  • Reducing the Risk of Chronic Diseases
Alcohol and other drugs inhibit your immune system and increase your risk of several diseases:

    • high blood pressure

    • sciroccos of the liver

    • heart disease

    • prostate, mouth, throat, esophagus cancer

    • diabetes

Improved Workout Regimen and Weight Management
Alcohol, for one thing, is high in empty calories. It negatively impacts your workout regimen by:

    • reducing muscle protein synthesis, inhibiting muscle gain

    • reducing your ability to remove body fat

    • contributing to weight gain

    Enhanced Sex and Sleep Quality
Excessive alcohol consumption disrupts a number of things important to men:

    • sleep—disrupts deep REM sleep, causing sleep deprivation (8 of 10 want better sleep)

    • sex—it contributes to erectile dysfunction and infertility (more thanhalf of men over age 40 report having ED)

  • Stress and Anxiety Reduction
Though you may believe otherwise, alcohol actually exacerbates:

    • stress—it stimulates production of cortisol, the stress hormone

    • anxiety

    • anger

    • emotional outbursts

    Improved Mental Clarity and Focus
Alcohol impacts you mentally by affecting your:

    • judgment—it results in a lack of focus

    • cognitive functions—your mental clarity

    • decision-making ability

    • productivity—by decreasing your energy levels

    Building Emotional Resilience
Mindful drinking fosters emotional resilience by helping you:

    • understand and manage your emotions

    • ability to cope without self-medicating

    • improve your overall emotional well-being and stability.

  • Improved Relationships

Mindful drinking can enable you to begin work in much-needed areas, such as:

    • being present and approachable with those you love

    • not being a “handful” or difficult to be around when buzzed

    • showing you care by being clear-minded and thoughtful

    Better Friendships

Alcohol leads to things happening we wish hadn’t:

    • DUI—these don’t put you on the more-popular list

    • Texts—I can’t believe I said that

    • Conversations—I think I said too much last night

    • Actions—I think I went off again
